Thymogen

Thymogen (Glu-Trp)

In simple words

Thymogen is a very short peptide of just two amino acids. It is studied as a gentle means of restoring immunity after injuries and surgery.

What this molecule is

L-glutamic acid + L-tryptophan. Dipeptide ~333 Da. (Detailed profile — Ch. 3 and Ch. 8)

Why it is studied

A gentle immunostimulant during postoperative recovery. RCTs in cancer patients: ↓postoperative complications, faster immune recovery. Especially useful for reduced immunity after injuries and surgery.

How it works

↑T-cell maturation → ↑immune surveillance. ↓Postoperative immunosuppression. Gentle, with no risk of overstimulation.

Doses used in studies

Studies used 0.1 mg IM once/day × 10 days.

Combined with in studies

  • Thymalin
  • GHK-Cu
  • BPC-157

Level of evidence

Level A-C Human clinical trials. There are randomized controlled trials (RCTs), or the compound has been approved by a regulatory agency. The most reliable level.
