Lipo-B

Lipo-B (MIC cocktail: methionine + inositol + choline)

In simple words

Lipo-B is not a peptide but a mixture of methionine, inositol, choline, and vitamin B12 that is used to support fat metabolism in the liver. It is used in American weight-loss clinics, but it has not been studied as a single formula: only the individual components have been studied, and the effect is modest.

What this molecule is

Not a peptide. Mixture: methionine (essential amino acid) + inositol (vitamin B8) + choline (conditionally essential) + B12. Standard injection: 25+50+50+1000 mcg.

Why it is studied

Lipotropic factors to support fat metabolism in the liver. Widely used in USA weight loss clinics. Not FDA-approved for weight loss as a formula. The components have RCTs: inositol in NAFLD and PCOS, choline in fatty liver disease.

How it works

Methionine → SAM → methylation + glutathione + taurine. Inositol → IP3 → ↑insulin signaling. Choline → phosphatidylcholine → ↑VLDL assembly → ↑triglyceride export from hepatocytes. B12 is a cofactor of methionine synthase.

Doses used in studies

In practice, 1 mL IM 1–2 times/week was used in courses of 8–12 weeks. For the individual components, studies used inositol 2000–4000 mg/day orally.

Combined with in studies

  • L-Carnitine — β-oxidation + lipotropic factors
  • NAD+ — mitochondrial support
  • AOD-9604 — lipolysis + fat export

Level of evidence

Level B Human observational data. There are studies in humans, but they are small, uncontrolled, or cohort studies. The data are encouraging but need confirmation. RCTs on the components. None on the complete MIC formula.

Important to know

Honest caveat: Not a single RCT of the MIC formula as a single product. The effect is modest. Not a "fat burner" — support for liver metabolism.
