BPC-157

BPC-157 (Body Protective Compound-157)

In simple words

BPC-157 is a peptide made of 15 amino acids, a fragment of a protein found in human gastric juice. It is studied as a substance that may speed up healing of the stomach, intestines, muscles, and ligaments, but there are almost no human studies yet.

What this molecule is

Gly-Glu-Pro-Pro-Pro-Gly-Lys-Pro-Ala-Asp-Asp-Ala-Gly-Leu-Val — 15 aa. A fragment of human gastric juice. ~1420 Da.

Why it is studied

The most studied regenerative peptide — more than 100 publications. A systematic review in orthopedics (PMID: 40131143, HSS Journal 2025): convincing data for the GI tract and healing, limited data for ligaments/bones. Models: GI ulcers, Achilles tendon rupture, ischemic injury. No completed clinical RCTs in humans.

How it works

↑VEGF, Ang-1 → ↑angiogenesis. ↑NO system → ↑blood flow. ↑EGF, FGF receptors → ↑cell proliferation. ↑Vascular growth receptor in the endothelium. Multisystem: GI tract, muscles, ligaments, liver, brain.

Doses used in studies

Studies used 0.25-0.5 mg SC into the injury area or systemically, 1-2 times/day, for a course of 2-4 weeks.

Combined with in studies

  • TB-500 — actin + BPC = regenerative synergy
  • GHK-Cu — angiogenesis + matrix
  • Thymosin Beta-4 — full-length

Level of evidence

Level C Animal studies. Effects have been shown in animals. Whether they carry over to humans has not been proven. animals — no RCTs in humans
